It’s that time of the year where the nights get darker early and the days get colder. It’s this time of year that I really like to pamper myself and look after myself more.
This month I have been settling into my halls of residence and University life in general! I have been buying my own food shopping for the first time, looking for some new and fresh inspiration for my blog and snuggling up with face masks and YouTubers.
Without further ado here is my October Favourite:-
This month my skin has been really playing up and I’ve been having quite a few hormonal breakouts. I had heard that L’Oréal have recently brought out some face masks and I just had to try them out.
I brought myself the L’Oréal Pure Clay Mask for detoxifying your skin. I needed a detox after both freshers week and living off pot noodles and other various unhealthy foods that can only be made from a kettle! (My halls weren’t ready so I lived in a hotel for two months)
This mask is a really amazing quality for only £5! I applied the mask with my fingers, left it on for 15 minutes whilst I read the latest issue of Marie-claire, I then washed it off with a flannel and voila, the next morning I woke up spot free with bright and plumped skin!
Now I finally have a kitchen and not just a kettle I have really been making the most of it believe me. As soon as I moved into my Halls Of Residence I realised that I desperately needed to go on not a diet but just a detox with healthy food.
I ordered all the fruit and vegetable in my online Ocado food shop. Ocado currently has an offer where you can get 3 types of fruit for £5 so I ordered myself some blackberries, raspberries, and pears. The raspberries and pears were lovely but nothing special but the blackberries tasted so good! They’re currently in season and I love having them for breakfast with some Yoghurt and Granola. They’re so juicy and sweet – I’ve ordered myself three punnets of blackberries for my next food shop as they’re just that tasty!
Talking of granola and yoghurt leads me onto my next monthly favourite in the foods section of this blog post.
Rachels are also on offer at Ocado where you can get two tubs of Yoghurt for £3. I brought myself the Lemon Yoghurt and it tastes just like lemon meringue. The lemon yogurt and blackberries are a winning combination for a lovely zingy and filling breakfast! Perfect for a busy day at Univeristy.
My final favourite in the food section has to be dark chocolate digestives. They’re a lovely treat to have on my small breaks from doing university work!
Did you know that dark chocolate is better for you than milk chocolate and it still tastes just as nice?
Recently I have been lacking inspiration and motivation so I’ve been loving Pinterest to get some helpful tips and advice on subjects such as; how to be more productive, how to be more organised, healthy but filling food ideas for University students, 101 blog post ideas etc. I could spend hours on my phone browsing the world of Pinterest looking for easy crafts or yummy meals.
On September the 10th at 9am a very shy and nervous Lauren started her first day at University studying a two year Digital Marketing course.
Going to University has definitely been the best decision that I’ve made in my life so far. I have made a big group of very lovely friends that I will hopefully have for life, I am no longer low on confidence and motivation – I’m outgoing and motivated, I have learned how important independence and responsibility is for your own actions (Drinking too much Boo! 😦 ) and most importantly I am loving my course and I can’t wait to see what the next two years bring me!
This month I have been well and truly addicted to the TV series scream. It is based off the comical horror films except this TV series is far from comical. It’s the same kind of story line as the films, a big group of friends all get killed off one by one by a mysterious serial killed in a scary mask and a black cape. Of course, there’s a favourite character which is challenged and tormented the most by the killer.
I would definitely recommend watching it, I binge watched it in about a week because I just couldn’t stop watching it until I knew who the killer was and why he was attacking this poor group of high school friends.
This missing is back on BBC 1 Wednesdays at 9. The first series was about a little boy who went missing in a park whilst his Dad stopped to catch up on the football scores and when he turned around his son had vanished. This series (Series 2) is about a missing girl who finally came home but is she really the correct daughter and missing girl that she says she is?
I would highly recommend watching this is you like thrilling crime drama TV shows. Once you start watching it you can’t stop!
I have two people favourites this month. My first person favourite is a YouTuber called Exploring With Josh. I have been watching his videos for a while but recently with it been Halloween I have been binge watching his videos more than ever.
He and a few friends go around exploiting the history of and exploring abandoned buildings. He explores anything from old factories to asylums to Chernobyl. He’s a really sweet and humble guy who deserves all the success he gets so please go a subscribe to him and watch some of his videos. They aren’t jumpy just a bit creepy but very interesting.
My next person favourite is a YouTuber that will always be my favourite blogger and YouTuber and that’s my role model InTheFrow or Victoria. She posts about Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle and she’s killing it this month with content! I loved her most recent video which is linked HERE where she gave you lots of Autumn/Winter fashion inspiration! Go check her out if you haven’t already heard of her 🙂
What are your favourites from this month? I would love to know so please let me know in the comments below!
Check back on Sunday at 6pm UK time for a peak into my University bedroom!
See you soon guys
